How to Fix Registry Errors

If you have a Windows computer, then you have a registry.  The registry is where everything in your computer is stored.  The registry also keeps track of what you do on the web, what apps you install or uninstall, and where all of your programs are on your PC.  After using your PC for a long time, you can only imagine how much information the registry stores within itself.  The main problem here is that Windows never removes registry entities so all of that information just sits there and accumulates.  Now, your PC is running out of memory and is much slower than you remember.   What can you do to fix registry errors at home?

Tips for Finding a Trustworthy Registry Cleaner

Registry cleaner program are created to remove a lot of the unnecessary and useless junk that sits in your registry.  They are also easy to find.  All you have to do is go online and search for a registry cleaner.

  • There are a lot of programs to choose from, so I would recommend looking at some of the reviews for the programs you are considering.
  • Some of these registry cleaners are free, but they only fix a few problems at a time.  This can be time consuming and annoying, so try to steer clear of those.
  • Other programs, where the price can range from $15 and up) do not only clean your registry, but also clean up other areas of your computer.  These are packaged as a system cleaner, which can be helpful if your PC’s registry isn’t the only problematic area of your computer.

Once you have found a registry or system clean up program, install it to your PC and make sure to follow the directions meticulously.  Sometimes people are in a rush and try to speed through the important steps.  Don’t do this.  You could end up clicking a wrong button and hurting your PC.  Most of these cleaner programs will scan your PC for errors and show you what they are.  Don’t be alarmed if you have hundreds or even thousands of registry errors.  This is normal especially if you have had your PC for a long time.  Follow the instructions and let the registry cleaner work its magic on your PC.

You don’t need to clean your registry more than once every two months or so.  Sometimes you don’t have to clean it that often.  It depends on your PC.  After your registry has been tidied up, you should see a difference in your PC’s performance.  It should be faster and less prone to crashes, which will optimize the time you spend on your PC.
