Hi,
My wifes computer which is an identical configuration, slightly newer ‘faster’ box than mine (Both XP, running Spyware blaster. AVG, and all unnecessary processes still drags. I tried JV 16 which sorted the registry, defragged etc and followed all the usual approaches as described here and there) - but hers is running slow. Start-up, opening programs etc.
I checked the function of all services and eliminated those not needed. Yesterday I bought and installed IOLO System Mechanic 7 and went through all its results repairing all. But still slow.
I suspect that this is possibly a hardware problem but where do I start to look for that. I downloaded WD’s disk inspector and everything seems fine. The second drive is only used for backing up the first, I moved the VM onto it… but no obvious improvements.
